Food Safety & Adulteration Risks in China's Food Supply Chain
In China, food safety regulatory organizations rely on random sampling for food safety tests. Our self-constructed Food Tests database provides valuable information on the results of such tests. Using this data, we are developing a framework for risk-based testing, which uses historical data to identify risky products, companies, and supply chain locations.

Local Regulatory Strength in China's Food System
In order to determine the relationship between food safety and local regulatory strength in China, our researchers have mapped the regulatory organizational structures in China to develop transparency indicators for each prefecture.

Wholesale Market Management in China
Wholesale food markets (WSMs) in China are a major consolidation point for 70%-80% of food products. Therefore, they provide opportunities to access and monitor the quality and safety of food to mitigate food and zoonotic disease risks. Our goal is to enhance WSMs’ roles in monitoring and regulating food safety.

Food Safety Sensor Development
Currently, there are not enough resources to test products throughout the food supply chain for adulterants. In order to meet the pace and volume of food supply chain monitoring, our research aims to develop innovative, inexpensive, and portable sensor platforms capable of on-site measurement.
Current collaborators on our food safety research in China include iSoftStone, Zhejiang University, Beijing Business Management College, Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and the South China Agricultural University
