Sue Siegel has driven game-changing ideas and powered companies that advance industries and improve lives for more than three decades. With vast experience across industries, she is on the forefront of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and is helping companies identify and seize transformative digital opportunities.

As GE’s Chief Innovation Officer and CEO of GE Ventures for seven years, Sue oversaw investment in startups, creating and scaling new companies, and commercializing GE’s intellectual property. She also led strategy planning and oversaw the global marketing function.

Before joining GE, Sue was a VC general partner at Mohr Davidow Ventures, where she spearheaded investments in personalized medicine, digital health, and life sciences. Prior to becoming a venture capitalist, Sue led Affymetrix as president and a board member. She also held executive leadership roles at Bio-Rad, DuPont and Amersham after transitioning to a corporate career from early work in molecular biology and biochemistry.

Valued for her business insights and science background, Sue has served as a board member for more than a dozen companies. She is currently a board member at Align Technologies (ALGN), Illumina (ILMN), MIT’s The Engine, and Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF). Additionally, her advisory board appointments include Harvard Partners Healthcare Innovation< UC Innovation, and RAND Health Care. She co-chairs Stanford Medicine Board of Fellows.

Sue has also served on numerous nonprofit boards, including Silicon Valley’s Tech Museum of Innovation and Stanford Hospital and Clinics. She was a founding member of the NIH’s National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences and served on President Obama’s Precision Medicine Initiative Working Group.

Sue has been recognized in Fortune’s “34 Leaders Who Are Changing Health Care” and is an Aspen Institute Henry Crown Fellow. She is a featured “Multiplier” in the bestselling book: “Multipliers: How the Best Leaders Make Everyone Smarter.”

Helping CDS create an experiential offering for Costco online

Club Demonstration Services (CDS), the powerhouse partner behind retail giant Costco, provides product samples and demos in more than 800 Costco warehouses across 12 countries, with a strong focus on food. There’s just one problem: Demonstrations, food especially, appeal to in-person customers. The company aimed to branch out to new products, especially health, beauty, and home goods, to attract online shoppers. Entrepreneurship in Organizations Lab students Masa Kawahashi, SFMBA ’24 and Ayobami Aluko, SFMBA ’24 were tasked with sharpening CDS’s e-commerce strategy.
