Daniel Freund is an Assistant Professor of Operations Management at the MIT Sloan School of Management.

His research applies techniques from optimization, stochastic modeling, and revenue management to problems in transportation, online platforms, and humanitarian immigration among others. His work has been recognized with the MSOM Best OM Paper in OR Award (2023), the Applied Probability Society Best Publication Award (2021), the George B. Dantzig Dissertation Award (2018), the Daniel H. Wagner Prize for Excellence in Operations Research and Analytics (2018), and a Best Paper award at the ACM SIGCAS COMPASS conference (2018). Daniel is an AE for Operations Research and frequently serves on ACM program committees (e.g., EC, EAAMO, TheWebConf).

Daniel holds a BSc in mathematics from the University of Warwick (UK), as well as an MS and a PhD in applied mathematics from Cornell University, where he was advised by David B. Shmoys. Before joining MIT, Daniel was a postdoc in Lyft's Marketplace Labs team.
